Mayte Rodríguez is 52 years old, 38 of them working non-stop . It started when school ended. Mayte is a dressmaker, she sews shoes, and of those 38 years of work she only has 12 listed .

She is the president of the Elda-Petrer association of sponsors, she plans to form a cooperative and continue fighting for the rights of a group that has always been punished by the underground economy . And now, with the economic consequences of the Covid 19 crisis and shoes that are not selling, the picture is even blacker.

Time to sink? Not for these women.

Just in the days of the state of alarm, the equipment was organized to sew masks and gowns that reached all places when they were most needed. They had the machines at home, they had the collaboration of other professionals who cut the pieces and distributed them, and exported their idea to more places in Spain.
