The National Council of Automobile Professions (CNPA) announced Thursday April 30 that washable protective masks will soon be marketed in some French service stations. The 4,500 stores of the Total, Agip, BP, Esso, Avia and Shell groups will offer these protective equipment against coronavirus, the organization said in a press release.

Service stations have become leading distributors of #mask protection, on the initiative of #CNPA.

"A major asset" for the distribution of masks

By this approach, professionals in the sector say they want to help the government achieve one of the objectives stated by Edouard Philippe during his speech on April 28. The Prime Minister had estimated that "it is essential to cover the needs of the population in this area, and to guarantee access to this equipment for all and in all the territories", recalls the CNPA.

“The territorial network of service stations, local shops present throughout the national territory, in particular in rural and peri-urban areas, represents a major asset in meeting the challenge of a balanced distribution of protective equipment to the whole population, ”the council rightly estimates.

A poster campaign

The organization is also working on a poster campaign offering visuals for download by service station managers. "We want these masks to be sold as cheaply as possible," assures BFMTV Francis Pousse, president in charge of operators of service stations at the CNPA. The sale prices will however be free.

The organization has communicated to its members the contact details of a supplier. Professionals must take responsibility for ordering the fabric masks intended for the general public. The date on which service station operators can offer them will depend on the speed of product delivery.
