  • The 6th season of  Skam France  has started on France.tv Slash.
  • This season follows the fate of Lola, a teenage girl facing addiction problems.
  • Deprived of lessons and their friends because of the coronavirus epidemic, Skam France allows young French people to "live by proxy" "a life of ordinary high school student".

The great originality of Skam resides in its mode of distribution in “fictitious real time”. "When the heroes of the series go to a party on Friday, the video of the party is posted on Friday," explained Marianne Furevold, producer of the Norwegian format at the Série Series festival in 2016. "Sticking to this reality of time is the great difficulty of Skam  ”, explained Benoît Auriol, production manager of Skam France , at the time of the broadcast of the 5th season.

This season 6, in progress on France.tv Slash, does not benefit from this powerful identification tool. While the French are confined and the college certificate and the bac have been canceled, Lola, the main character of this new burst of episodes and all the heroes of the series of France.tv Slash continue to follow courses, d 'go to parties and walk around without certification. Never has a Skam  season been so far from the ordinary of its spectators. 20 Minutes asked fans how he was experiencing this unprecedented shift.

"A little less real"

"Perhaps this distance will serve the series, because it was still one of the great strengths of Skam to be able to identify in real time," says Aude, 23. "I was impatient to know the continuation of the adventures of the characters, although the output format of video as if we were in class is less credible for my part", testifies Zakarya, 19 years.

Same story for Léna, 17: “It seems a little less real, but they could not have foreseen this epidemic. Or Tifenn, 19, who feels "a little less close to them." "They could not have foreseen such a thing," defends Amélie, 21, who "amuses herself with ironically observing the differences with what we are currently experiencing".

"Being confined does not prevent us from feeling emotions"

"Feeling close to the characters does not just depend on the fact that they are outside in the series and we do not," tempers Camille, 21. "Even if it's weird, it's above all a fiction," recalls Amandine, 20.

The confinement could even strengthen the links between the characters and their many fans. "The fact of being confined does not prevent us from feeling emotions and living strong things, on the contrary, the confinement can even increase these feelings tenfold, and I think that the need to attach to a character is all the more important in these times, ”explains Camille.

"It feels good to forget the morbid daily life"

"I am very happy that the series has nothing to do with the situation. I don't need to be reminded with each clip of what we're going through. It is reassuring and it feels good to forget the morbid daily life, ”thinks Anna, 31 years old. Many like her like to see the characters evolve in a context that does not involve the pandemic. "It feels good to see people outside without fear of contamination," says Stéphanie, 20.

Skam France “helps me to think of something else, to escape from confinement and to be less alone. I live with them and to the rhythm of the first clips broadcast. The freedom of Lola and her comrades makes me think that you have to keep a social bond even behind a screen, ”says Anthony, 26.

"Even if they do not experience confinement, I still feel just as close to them because I am always fully into the clips, Instagram posts ... etc. Having season 6 of Skam France during confinement brings me a little more cheerfulness in this gloomy daily life! Says Celine, 23.

"A new sequence is like taking a breath of fresh air"

For Madison, 19, in time of confinement, Skam France allows "to escape into the universe" of the character followed, namely that of Lola, at the center of this new season. "The fact of seeing the characters of Skam evolve outside while we are in confinement allows me to escape for a few moments", confirms Vinciane, 18 years old. "With confinement, the days are long ... but thanks to Skam time flies faster and I learn a lot about myself and the things of life at the same time," insists Mel, 20.

An opinion shared by Sophie: "I really like to see the characters evolve outside confinement because this atmosphere allows us to escape from reality, which is good in these times of pandemic. "

More so, the France.tv Slash series allows through its characters to live normal life by proxy. "It feels good," says Amandine. It's like we're going out with them. Watching a new sequence is like taking a breath of fresh air. "It is nice to see programs that the epidemic does not mention. I have the impression of a break in my confinement, ”says Maïlys, 18.

"Reality as it could have been without the health crisis"

The series also makes it possible to imagine a year 2020 without coronavirus. "I find it very interesting to show us an aspect of reality as it could have been without the health crisis," considers Ilana, 19. "It is nice to see that in a parallel world, they can go out! Shares 15-year-old Lilith.

In these times of confinement, Skam France is a means for many high school students to live their life as ordinary high school students by proxy. "The reminder of ordinary life outside is good for morale by reminding us that this lifestyle is only temporary and allowing us to dream of our lives as high school students," says Mila, 16. “We can indeed live our life as a high school student in an ordinary way and that personally makes me feel good! “, Also believes Lena. "It allows me to have fun and live by proxy my life as a high school student," said Maëla, 18.

“Throughout our confinement, the video releases allow us to live by proxy the continuity of the courses as if nothing had happened. Even if we don't have a course in physics, we still have to do with educational continuity! “, Moreover Zakary.

The series succeeds in reaching its audience by its ability to sketch the horrors faced by young people today. "The problems encountered by high school students (...) are still still present, such as cyberbullying with" fishas "accounts," says Zakarya. "Season 6 touches me a lot since I discovered Skam after a particularly difficult mourning for me," says Mel. The confinement did not alleviate the difficulties of the young people. "Therefore, the series remains necessary during confinement! "Concludes Zakaria.
