Leclerc has put two million masks on sale this week and is expecting two more large deliveries. Carrefour claims to have "secured 175 million disposable masks and 50 million washable masks" for the French. System U has ordered 54 million single-use masks and is about to recommend another 30 million.

This sudden profusion of masks in supermarkets has angered health professionals, who have struggled since the start of the coronavirus epidemic to equip themselves properly. The president of the Paca region, Renaud Muselier (LR) threatened, in a tweet, to file a “complaint for endangering the life of others and failure to assist person in danger” and given “three days to the great distribution to prove that she had no secret stock of masks during the crisis ”.
