The government decided on Saturday, during a Council of Ministers, the extension for two months, until July 24, of the state of health emergency in France to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The fortnight and isolation may be compulsory in certain cases

The text, which includes seven articles, aims to "consolidate the legal framework" and "broaden it" to "integrate the issues of deconfinement", which is due to start on May 11, said Olivier Véran. Quarantine and isolation measures will only be mandatory for people arriving on national territory, he said. At one time, it was envisaged that this would also be the case for people tested positive and already in France. The bill which extends the state of health emergency until July 24 provides that "individual placement measures [for people coming from abroad therefore] are taken by the representative of the State, on the proposal of the Director General of the Regional Health Agency and after medical observation of the infection of the person concerned ".

"Several levels" of detection of sick people and "contact people"

The Minister of Health also clarified the implementation of the detection of sick people and "contact people". "First, the results of the positive tests will be collected by the laboratories. Then, [there will be] what is called level 1 tracing, which will be carried out by doctors, health professionals", explained Olivier Véran. These, formed into "health brigades", must in particular enter the data of "contact persons" so that they can be found.

"Level 2" will be organized by health insurance and "Level 3" by regional health agencies "as has been the case since the start of the epidemic," he said. The data collected by the health brigades will be "independent of the Stop-Covid application", also assured Olivier Véran

Wearing a mandatory mask in public transport

The power to verbalize expanded

The list of people empowered to find violations of the rules of the state of health emergency will be expanded, continued the Minister of the Interior.
