“The Yekaterinburg Metropolis expresses deep condolences on the death of Olga Nikolaevna Kulikovskaya-Romanova, the widow of Tikhon Nikolaevich, the son of Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna, the nephew of the last Russian sovereign Nikolai Alexandrovich,” the message on the website of the Yekaterinburg diocese says.

Kulikovskaya-Romanova was born in 1926 in Yugoslavia in the family of a nobleman Nikolai Pupynin and artist Nina Kopernitskaya. The girl graduated from the Mariinsky Don Institute of Noble Maidens, who was evacuated to this country.

During the Second World War she was interned in Germany, where she worked in a factory. After the war she moved to South America.

She received a medical, commercial, architectural education, spoke seven languages.

Later in Canada, she worked as a translator in government agencies. There she married the native nephew of Nicholas II Tikhon Nikolaevich Romanov. Together with her husband, she organized a charity fund, since 1991 she has been to Russia regularly.
