"20 Minutes" was on the set of seasons 5 and 6 of "Skam France". - A. Demoulin / 20 Minutes

Everything was planned. Season 6 of Skam France , the second perfectly new and which therefore frees itself a little more from its Norwegian model, was to be launched on April 18, on the eve of the return to class of Parisian students. And as the series now follows “the real life” of the spectators at the same time as that of the characters, the heroes of Skam had to prepare the bac…

The coronavirus and containment came to shake everything up. Future graduates will not, or shortly, return to high school, and there will be no tests this year. Despite everything, France TV Slash has chosen to broadcast this season 6, as planned. “We lose this relevance which we were very happy with in season 5, which started on December 31, and was set to reality, explains Nils Rahou, collection director. I hope people will still enjoy it… "

The chief scriptwriter of the series explains to 20 Minutes  the turning point that this season represents for the characters, and for himself.

Could a Skam season with confined characters have been possible?

In Skam , high school is an important part of the stories. Everything is possible but I think we would lose a lot of the flesh of the series. It is from encounters and collisions between characters that the story is born.

In this season, there are themes on the transition to adulthood, perhaps more peaceful.

The characters have matured. This is the chance of this series, for a screenwriter, to be able to accompany growing characters. Spectators have in mind the trials and the cool moments they have gone through, and how events have changed them. We don't leave our characters locked in shackles, they become emancipated. With Skam , we tell an age of life where many character traits are established, an age where we make choices. Which adult to become? There, the characters that we have been following from the start are reaching maturity, we are still accompanying them a little but already, they have questions from young adults.

And what adults will they become?

Ah I don't know. But we send them in a bright future, I think. Basil, for example, was a cheeky, even problematic character, because he lacked self-confidence. There he is better about himself, he has reached emotional maturity.

Perhaps we could expect a season very oriented on the tray of historical figures. Finally, it is Lola, the little news, who is in the center. Why ?

Lola brings a revival to the series. It is a character that we had the right to create thanks to our agreement with the creators of the original series. It is linked to Daphne, an original character and it brings something else, a link. We use it to talk about other characters, not the other way around. She is really at the center of this season.

Were you tired of them?

Not at all. But it didn't interest me too much to follow their bac exams. It's pretty monotonous… And I preferred to focus for Lola. I wanted her to have her own life, her own interactions, to make her crew, her band, like Emma in season 1, and like Lucas with the boys band.

The elders will still have the right to say goodbye?

We say goodbye, yes. The series takes place in high school, not in graduate studies. We go until the end of the school year with them. There is, for the old characters who pass the bac, a side "And now?" "

For the series too. And now ? A season 7?

I don't know and I can't say anything. We are ready for that, we have intrigue, characters. We'll see…
