Comparison of coronavirus synthesis maps in France from May 1 and April 30. - Ministry of Health

  • New maps of the coronavirus situation in France were released on Friday.
  • 32 departments remain in red for deconfinement, in the northeast quarter of France.
  • Among the rectified departments, the Lot, the Cher and the Haute-Corse go green.

The government is reviewing its copy. While provisional maps of the coronavirus prepared in anticipation of deconfinement have caused misunderstanding in certain regions, the director of health, Jérôme Salomon, presented revised versions on Friday. As the regional health agencies had mentioned in the morning, three departments go from red to green for the summary map: the Lot, the Cher and the Haute-Corse.

"Public health France has made changes in certain departments due to new data analyzes, the use of additional indicators and after discussions with stakeholders in the field, in particular regional health agencies," said Salomon.

Changes in virus circulation

Of the three maps presented, it is the one that measures the circulation of the virus (as a percentage of emergency room visits due to Covid-19) that is the most upset. In total, nine departments change color:

  • Cher, Lot, Nièvre, Haute-corse (from red to green)
  • Aisne (from red to orange)
  • Calvados, Dordogne, Tarn (orange to green)
  • Oise (green to orange)

The map of saturation of resuscitation services remains unchanged, with the northeast quarter of France in red. Suddenly, the modifications on the summary card are minor, because the latter retains the most aggravating factor: if a department is red for resuscitation but green for the circulation of the virus (like Nièvre), it is red in the synthesis . In total, 32 departments are currently in red.

Colors stopped on May 7

These are only temporary cards. They will be “crystallized” on Thursday May 7 and will have an impact on deconfinement on May 11. In the end, it will only have two colors: the departments in orange are currently on waivers and may switch to green or red. During the presentation of his plan on Tuesday, Edouard Philippe clarified that only the green departments could reopen parks and gardens. However, the beaches will remain closed everywhere, at least until June 1.

Primary schools will reopen from May 11 whatever the color, with strict reception conditions (15 students per class, minimum of one meter between all children). For colleges and high schools, on the other hand, establishments will reopen "gradually" from May 18, starting with the 6th and 5th grades, "only in departments where the circulation of the virus is very weak".
