Students with reduced part-time jobs deliver food to restaurants instead of restaurants Sapporo New Corona April 30th 14:00

A new service has begun in Sapporo, where students, whose part-time jobs have decreased due to the new coronavirus, deliver food to homes instead of restaurants.

This service, called "North Dash," started this month as an initiative to connect university students whose part-time jobs have decreased due to the spread of the new coronavirus and restaurants that want to focus on home delivery.

When a user places an order at a restaurant with a smartphone, the delivery students go to the store and ride a bicycle to deliver the food to the designated destination.

The maximum delivery fee is ¥ 500 per delivery, and delivery is possible within a radius of about 2 kilometers centered on Odori Park in Chuo-ku, Sapporo.

Currently, 10 restaurants are participating, but in the future, we plan to increase the number of restaurants and the delivery area.

Mr. Akihiro Harai, who runs a curry specialty store, said, "I'm grateful for this kind of service because I'm the only person who runs the store and can't deliver to home. I want to survive somehow."

In addition, the delivery student's college student said, "I have lost 30% to 40% of my original part-time job. I am glad that I can make up for the reduced part-time job."
