Irrfahn Khan told 2018 that he had been diagnosed with a tumor, but after extensive treatment, he recovered well enough to star in the Indian film Angrezi Medium, which came to be his last film.

Irrfan Khan has held several roles in Indian TV productions since the late 1980s. His film career took off after he starred in the then unknown British director Asif Kapadia's movie The Warrior 2001 which won a Bafta for best British film. In 2005 he made his first starring role in Bollywood with the movie Rog and he was praised by the critics for his efforts.

Police Inspector of Slumdog Millionaire

Outside of India, Khan was perhaps best known as a police inspector in the multiple Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. He has also held roles in The Amazing Spider-Man, Jurassic World and Inferno. In 2012, he also played the adult version of the protagonist of the Oscar-winning film Life of Pi.

Irrfahn Khan was admitted to the intensive care unit at a Mumbai hospital on Tuesday with an intestinal infection. He passed away on Wednesday, leaving behind his wife and two sons.
