Greg Daniels, author of The Office and King of the Hill, became one of the writers of Download. Jeffrey Blitz is responsible for directing (“Trial and Error,” “Table No. 19”).

In his new project, the creator of American Horror Story and American Crime Story Ryan Murphy addresses the Hollywood theme of the 1940s.

In the story, after the Second World War, several dreamers come to the "dream factory" to change the world of cinema. They have to overcome racial and gender stereotypes and adapt to a bohemian society. As the filmmakers promise, on the example of the life of each hero, viewers will see a certain aspect of the Hollywood backstage.

The main roles in the series were played by Darren Criss, Jeremy Pope and Patty Lupont. Also involved in the project are Jim Parsons and Samantha Weaving.

“I Know This Much Is True.” From May 10 at HBO, from May 11 at Amediateka

In the new family drama of Derek Sienfrans ("A Place Under the Pine Trees"), Mark Ruffalo was able to play two main roles at once - the twin brothers Dominic and Thomas. The shooting period took place in two stages: for the sake of one role, the actor lost weight, and then was forced to gain kilograms to match the second image.

The plot is based on the novel of the same name by the American writer Wally Lamb. According to the book, one of the brothers, Thomas, suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and spends time in the hospital. Dominic walks free, but he considers himself more dangerous to society. The hero is trying to take care of his brother, as well as to figure out what the rest of the family is hiding.

Another May project with historical flavor is a comedy series about the Russian Empress Catherine II. Filmmakers promise a deliberately free interpretation of historical events and characters. The main role in the film was played by El Fanning.

In the first season - it consists of 10 episodes - we will talk about the first years of the Fanning heroine in Russia. Emperor Peter III, played by Nicholas Holt, appears as a stereotypical tyrant and tyrant, and many minor characters do without historical prototypes.

Among the show runners of the project is the author of “Favorites” Tony McNamara. He said that he first developed a theatrical version of The Great and relied on public reaction to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the plot.

This spring, another DC comic book heroine will get her own series. CW will show the story of Stargirl, the leader of America’s new Justice Society. Previously, this image was used in such television projects of the studio as “Smallville Secrets” and “Legends of Tomorrow”, but only as a secondary character.

While moving to a new home, schoolgirl Courtney Whitmore (Brack Basinger) finds a magic staff among her stepfather’s things. It turns out that stepfather was an assistant to the recently deceased superhero Starman. Having seized the power of artifacts, the girl decides to devote herself to the fight against evil.

Stargirl first appeared in comics in 1999. When creating this character, its author Jeff Jones was inspired by the image of his sister Courtney, who died in a plane crash in 1996. For the upcoming project, Jones wrote the script for the first series.

"Space Forces" (Space Force). May in Netflix

In 2018, U.S. President Donald Trump instructed the Department of Defense to create a new type of troops - the Space Forces. This idea interested filmmakers Steve Carell and Greg Daniels, who had previously worked together on the comedy series Office.

Under the auspices of Netflix, they concocted a story about General Mark Naird (it was just Carell who played it). The hero wanted to continue his military career as the head of the Air Force, but he was sent to serve in the new troops. There he has two main tasks: placing the contingent on the moon and establishing American dominance in space. Viewers are invited to observe the work of the department (which, as is already known, will turn into a comedy).

In addition to Karel, Lisa Kudrow (“Friends”), John Malkovich (“Substitution”), as well as Russian Alexey Vorobyev, who played an observer from Moscow, will appear on the screen.

According to media reports, the release is scheduled for May 29.
