Hamilton Bohannon was a drummer, songwriter and producer operating during the 70s and 80s. He played disco, funk and blues.

Early in his career he played in the same band as Jimi Hendrix. Then he was touring drummer to 13-year-old Stevie Wonder and Motown records then picked him up as band leader. Over the years he played with stars such as Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross.

He also recorded 19 albums as a solo artist.

Bohannon is considered one of Discon's major innovators. He has also influenced contemporary musicians, where Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake, among others, have sampled his music.
