As Eurovision could not organize in good conditions due to the spread of the coronavirus on the old continent, the organizers decided to organize an evening where all the candidates will be present from home. The latter will be hosted by Stéphane Bern and broadcast live on France 2

Due to the coronavirus pandemic which is hitting the old continent hard, the Eurovision competition has been canceled. This does not mean, however, that nothing will happen on May 16. Certainly, all the candidates are confined to their homes, but a live evening "Europe Shine a Light" ("Europe, make a light shine", in French) will be broadcast on France 2 and hosted by Stéphane Bern.

"All the artists who were to perform, including Tom Leeb for France, will represent their country from their place of confinement," explained Stéphane Bern. The presenter of  Secrets d'Histoire also announced that he would bring together virtually all the artists who have represented France in recent years, as well as former animators, without however revealing names.

The only certainty on the program is that the artists will sing Love Shine a Light together , a title that made it possible, in 1997, for the United Kingdom to win the biggest European song contest.

After the two hours of broadcasting, a documentary on Eurovision will be broadcast. Created in 1956, the event had never been canceled. The year 2020 therefore marks a historic first, while Eurovision brings together an average of 189 million viewers worldwide.
