Sex Education actor Asa Butterfield - Zuma / Starface

In order for the actors of the Sex Education series - mostly in their twenties - to be comfortable with the intimate scenes, the designer called on a special coach. Laurie Nunn told the Guardian that she hired "privacy coordinator" Ita O'Brien to make sure everyone was comfortable.

“I think the opening scenes of season one and season two are quite graphic, so if it's not for you, then you're probably not going to get to the anal douching bit.” Another quote from me to make my mum proud🤦🏻‍♀️ Before lockdown started I spoke to the @guardian about writing and creating @sexeducation which seems a million miles away right now, but If anyone needs a lil 'break from Covid-19 news the link is in my bio. “No one will be hit in a place without being prepared for it. Everyone can speak very openly and safely. I think the actors felt energized by this. It made them feel braver in these scenes because they have that support, "said the creator of the Netflix series.

The one who describes the series as being based on "communication and honesty" does not only evoke the sexuality of the characters, adolescents and adults. In season 2, sexual harassment, through the character of Aimee, victim of a stalker on the school bus, is addressed. A situation directly inspired by the designer's own story.

"What I wanted to explore is: why, when I get home, do I hold my keys in my hand as if I'm going to stab someone?" Who taught me that? Why do I always feel scared when someone walks too close behind me? Or, when you get on the subway, you look at people and wonder who it will be safer to sit next to. (…) Women have always known these things. We ended up talking about it publicly and now, we say "OK guys, look at this, think about it and manage it", "adds Laurie Nunn.

Faced with the success of the series, Netflix ordered a third season of Sex Education .
