Luz Casal acknowledges that there has never been access to culture as simple and varied as before. "You can listen to the great musicians and the eternal works, visit museums, read the classics and the latest, watch movies, series ...", he comments between enthusiasm and the obvious. And of course, you can't help but wonder if it makes sense for you to advise anyone. "There's so much!". Then he thinks better of it and agrees to confess to us what he is reading, the music that has accompanied him in recent days and the last thing he has seen on film.

Luis Eduardo Aute.BEGOÑA RIVAS

MUSIC

I think I have listened to all the edited songs of the singer-songwriter Luis Eduardo Aute. I have done it first as a respectful tribute to one of the great authors of our popular music and, later, as if he were a student who wishes to discover the secrets of the art of a teacher. And they are not few. Between 1968 and 2012, Aute went on to publish 25 albums, in addition to singles and compilations. His first album was titled Dialogues of Rodrigo and Jimena and already included mythical songs such as Rosas en el mar and Aleluya nº1. Albalanta (1978) marked a small revolution in his career and included the essential Al alba. What follows is a difficult career to catalog that goes through the decades without interruption and which he summarized in his own way in Memorable body, a compilation with the songs he considered the best of his four decades as a musician. What has been said, now is the time to listen to and listen to one by one all the songs of Luis Eduardo Aute.

Of course, also classical music. And here, right now, I have occupied The night of Chopin (21) played this time by Maria Joao Pires. They give me calm and give me peace.

And rock? Obviously. And it should not be wrong. Take Highway to hell and get carried away by the huge AC / DC. I've been listening to it since I was in my twenties and I can't find the moment to unhook myself.

Josep Pla.

BOOKS

Fortunately, confinement caught me with three books in my suitcase. I have not finished reading any of them. The first is The Cities of the Sea , by Josep Pla , where the author's journey through the Mediterranean and some inland areas is transformed into a sharp and excited vision of cities that are no longer and an opportunity to discover the mastery of Catalan. Mallorca, Fornells, Roussillon, Italy, the island of Elba, Sardinia, Sicily, Croatia, Istanbul and the Balkans take a new life from their hand. Without a doubt, an opportunity to immerse yourself in time, in the past and in ours as a distorted image of what was.

What led me to The Plague , by Albert Camus , before this pandemic was declared? No idea, what I do know is that it is not the time for you to read it. Maybe it's interesting reading for someone less sensitive than me.

And like all roads lead to music: The trap. Millennial Philosophy for the crisis in Spain is a vast study of the urban scene signed by Ernesto Castro.

And finally, a woman has been with me for months. Read his poetry or listen to it in one of the songs that gave him time to record. I'm talking about the Andalusian artist, rapper, poet, feminist and political scientist Gata Cattana , who died in 2017 at the age of 26.

A picture of 'The Irishman'.

FILMS

There are movies that after seeing the first desire that comes to mind is to see them again. And here, without a doubt, The Irish, by Martin Scorsese . The director, as you know, brings together Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino to make a perfect summary of his filmography, the history of cinema and the history of time itself. After seeing it, do you know the first thing that came to my mind? Yes, I thought, "I have to find time to see her again!"

And next to it, the other great Netflix movie that garnered all the critical praise and a good part of last year's awards. Yes, I mean history of a marriage of Noah Baumbach . I liked the story and, above all, I was surprised by the wonderful actors Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver in a duel of sincerity, tenderness and truth.

And back to music. The last musical movie I have seen has been Rocketman and I find it recommended because it is part of the life of a huge popular music composer. You know, I mean the Dexter Fletcher movie starring an incredible Taron Egerton that tells a good deal about Elton John's life (the most interesting part) , from his years as a child prodigy of the piano at the Royal Academy of Music to his arrival. to be a superstar.

I also advise you to turn to the Italian classics: Fellini, Visconti, Pasolini ... They and Bergman, Hitchcock, Wilder, Berlanga ...

THE SERIE

I belong to that group of people who have hardly seen series. So quarantining has been a good way to catch up. And finally, I have seen a complete one made up of four chapters. And seen in one stretch. This is Unorthodox and the protagonist, the captivating actress Shira Haas , has a lot of blame .

It is an example of how there is nothing and nobody that prevents freedom when it is essential to continue living. If you have not fallen into it yet, I encourage you to do so. The story is told of a young Orthodox Jew who abandons an arranged marriage in New York and heads to Berlin, where her mother lives. The story is inspired by Deborah Feldman's memoirs , in which she narrates in first person how she fled her strict religious community when she was young.

Just a couple of details. The protagonist of the series tells that she had to walk through a claustrophobic supermarket located somewhere in Williamsburg, the neighborhood where she lived with her grandparents, so that the mother and sister of her future husband would assess whether or not it was suitable for the marriage. They weren't even going to exchange a word, they were going to look at her. It is also seen how she received lessons on how to stay in bed so that her husband could make a baby for her. They are only details of everything he had to suffer and against everything he had to rebel against. My first series. And in one go.
