The Explore Team released a new episode on Friday noon, called "The Suspended Spring", which follows two steep skiers, Mathéo Jacquemoud and Vivian Bruchez, in the Alps. A format that "mixes documentaries and 3D in real time", specifies Emmanuel Alix, digital director of the Team.

INTERVIEW

The Team invites its readers to a great moment of escape since Friday with a new episode of the Team Explore , the magazine big reportage of the website of the sports daily. For this new opus, the journalists have decided to follow two enthusiasts of descending steep slopes, Mathéo Jacquemoud and Vivian Bruchez, who set off to attack six Alpine peaks before hitting them skiing. And that gives a series with the evocative name: "A suspended spring". A title chosen last fall but kept by the production.

Minimalist shoot for immersive documentary

This new episode aims to be innovative compared to the previous formats of  L'Equipe Explore . "Like the video game, it mixes documentaries and 3D in real time. This will give users the opportunity to take the hand to wander freely on the summits climbed by skiers, to take the time to find a precise route, to explore the mountain ", says Emmanuel Alix, the digital director of L ' Equipe, interviewed by Europe 1.

The two athletes were equipped with small cameras for a minimalist shoot with raw images. A cameraman followed them on only three climbs, to give an additional vision. The result is an immersive documentary, with infographics and explanations on each of the summits covered.

500,000 visits per episode

L'Equipe Explore is a successful format on the sports daily's website: 500,000 visits per episode since its launch in 2013. Another reason for satisfaction from  L'Equipe : half of the audience for the series is renewed at each new episode.

"For our youngest audience, we are going to offer a special edition on Snapchat on Sunday to make them discover this great report."
