[Explanation] Ganluo County, located in the north of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan, is known as the "North Gate of Liangshan". In recent years, Ganluo County has promoted women ’s flexible employment at home by supporting Yi embroidery workshops; by creating an e-commerce platform, it has strongly supported Yi embroidery out of the mountain market.

[Commentary] When it comes to Yi embroidery in Ganluo, I have to mention the local representative of the Sichuan traditional non-heritage project, the traditional inheritor of the Yi people's traditional embroidery skills, Asi Wumo. Recently, at the home of Asi Wuzhimo, the 58-year-old man in traditional Yi costumes told reporters about his journey in the inheritance of Yi embroidery through photos.

[Commentary] Asi Wuzhimo told reporters that Yi women began to learn embroidery skills from a young age, but basically all were self-embroidered. In 1993, she opened a store specializing in Yi embroidery, becoming one of the first people to bring Yi embroidery to the market. Today, she runs a Yi embroidery training center behind her own franchise store to help local embroidered mothers improve their craft and inherit traditional skills for free.

[Same period] (Sixi Wumo, the representative inheritor of the traditional embroidery skills of the Yi nationality in Sichuan provincial non-heritage projects) I started this line to solve my own livelihood. I am also very interested in Yi embroidery. Later, I felt that the Yi embroidery was impacted by the Han culture. There were fewer people wearing Yi clothes and fewer people doing Yi embroidery. I felt that someone had to do it before someone could wear it and pass it on from generation to generation. So I started to do it. Yi embroidery inherited this work.

[Explanation] Although a training center is set up in the county town, considering the long distance from each village in Ganluo County to the county town, Asi Wuzhimo takes a car to each village every month to gather local embroidered girls to learn and communicate together.

[In the same period] (Sixi Wuzhimo, the representative inheritor of traditional embroidery techniques of the Yi nationality in Sichuan provincial non-heritage project) I have been doing Yi embroidery for more than 40 years, and I have deep feelings. I made up my mind to pass on a group of people and let some people work on the spot. What needlework materials they need, I went outside and bought them so that they could make money to feed their families.

[Explanation] In Hamujue Village, Puchang Town, about half an hour's drive from Ganluo County, this year's 47-year-old Aji Wuzhi Mo is bowing his head and threading needles. Aji Wuzhimo said that the materials and patterns for their embroidery were all received from Mr. Asiwuzhimo, and the embroidered clothes, headbands, backpacks, etc. were sold by the teacher in accordance with each embroidery pattern. The degree of complexity, the embroidered ladies can get wages ranging from 400 yuan to more than 1,000 yuan.

[Same period] (Yi embroidery embroidered lady Aji Wuzhimo) I had a little foundation of Yi embroidery before the age of 23, but I was not proficient. After 23 years old, I learned from teacher Asiwuzhimo until now. Teacher Asi Wuzhimo has led a group of people to learn Yi embroidery, which has increased everyone's income. Now I rely on embroidery to earn more than 20,000 yuan a year. I also do this craft with my daughter-in-law and daughter. I don't have the idea of going out to work now. I can do this at home with peace of mind. The farmland and the elderly and children can be taken care of at home.

【Explanation】 It is better to teach people to fish than to teach them to fish. From 2016 to 2019 alone, Asi Wuzhimo led more than 1,700 Yi women to increase their income through embroidery. Talking about the future development of Yi embroidery, Asi Wuzhimo said that her greatest concern is the inheritance of generations. She hopes that more young people will join the Yi embroidery inheritance team.

[Same period] (Sixi Wuzhimo, the representative inheritor of traditional Yi embroidery skills of Yi nationality in Sichuan provincial non-heritage project) In recent years, the state has also paid more attention to the inheritance of handmade Yi embroidery, and with e-commerce, it is not very worried about sales Too. What worries me most now is that there are fewer and fewer young people doing it, and young people learn very little. They are all 30 or 40 year olds who do it at home.

[Commentary] Zhao Jianmin, Chief of the Public Service Unit of the Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Tourism of Ganluo County, Ganluo ’s geographical location determines that the Yi embroidery here is more lively in color and richer in pattern than the Yi embroidery in other Yi districts. . There are currently hundreds of Yi embroidery clothing stores in Ganluo County. Since 2015, the total output value of the Ganluo Yi embroidery industry has exceeded 20 million yuan.

[Same period] (Zhao Jianmin, Chief of Public Service Unit, Ganluo County Tourism Bureau) Through our investment promotion platform, we promoted our promotional videos and products of Ganluo Yi embroidery to some large exhibition venues and exhibitions. Non-legacy performances have participated in these. Once this (Yi embroidery) work has been to France, Shanghai and Hong Kong have all been to China, and they all show our Ganluo Yi embroidery in different ways.
