Relatives of a lady in Ecuador were surprised that their cousin had not died, a month after she had been declared dead, after she had contracted the Corona virus.

Alba Maruri Granda, 74, was transferred to the hospital on the 27th of last March, after suffering shortness of breath and fever, and her temperature reached 42 degrees Celsius, which led her children and grandchildren to transfer her to the hospital quickly.

After several days, the doctors at Guayaquil Hospital announced the patient's death, and informed her relatives that she had died after entering a coma.

But a month after the announcement of the death, the family discovered that the patient had not died but it was a mistake in the names, as the grandmother returned from the coma yesterday, to inform the nurse of her name, and the phone number of her sister who was surprised that her sister was still alive.

The doctors had confused the names of the patients, gave the family the body of another person while the woman remained in a coma in the hospital, and the grandmother's relatives spent nearly a month with the remains of unidentified ashes, awaiting the lifting of the state of emergency due to the pandemic of the Corona virus, to bury the ashes.

The doctors apologized to the Alba family, admitted the mistake, and her niece Laura Morla said: "We understand what they (the doctors) went through, because that period was chaotic because of the large number of dead and injured."

Relatives of Alba intend to file a lawsuit against the hospital to pay for the services of cremation of an unknown person. And they expect to get about two thousand dollars.

Currently, the grandmother is waiting for her out of the hospital, after checking on her condition.
