To save tourism, let's shift the summer vacation. This is the idea proposed by 30 LR deputies on Friday. In a press release, these elected officials, led by Vaucluse deputy Julien Aubert, relay the "numerous questions from tourism professionals, worried about the summer season" in view of the coronavirus crisis, while professionals in the hotel and of the restoration meet Friday with Emmanuel Macron.

The bill promises to be very salty for the actors of tourism in #Brittany with already losses which amount to 800 million euros between March and April due to the crisis of #coronavirus https://t.co/dsGvpMfW7C @ 20Minutes pic.twitter.com/XdKGF6NoAc

These deputies, including Vice-President LR Marc Le Fur or Philippe Gosselin, in particular ask the government to "clearly indicate whether the beaches, campsites, natural parks will be reopened to the public by the beginning of July".

A “Let's go to France” campaign to help the tourism sector

For the hotel and restaurant sector "suffering a lot", they ask "if special measures are planned regarding their taxation this summer". They also relay the interrogations of the French on taking holidays and closing borders.

Taking into account in particular the "risks weighing on bookings in July", they suggest in particular "to postpone the holidays of the first half of July to the first half of September, by also postponing the start of the school year to mid-September".

They also propose that "the government provide for a tax exemption system for reservations in France". It would be a question, they say, of launching "a great campaign" Let's go to France "supported by the State" to help tourism professionals, but also "to prevent French people from reimporting the epidemic of another country at their return ".
