The Bill & Melinda Gates organization called for international cooperation to prepare for a vaccine against "Covid-19" after it was developed. The organization will provide $ 150 million in additional funding to support the development of Covid-19 therapies.

Although it takes about 18 months to develop an effective and safe vaccine, companies and governments around the world need to make plans and prepare to produce large quantities of it after its development, according to Mark Suzman, CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Suzman added that the world population is currently about seven billion people, so we must prepare to give them all the vaccine. He announced that the Foundation will provide $ 150 million, in addition to the $ 100 million it announced to provide during February 2020, to support global efforts to tackle the Covid-19 epidemic, by developing treatments, vaccines and diagnostic tests, in addition to supporting the poorest countries in South Asia and African countries.

Suzman said that scientists are racing to develop a safe and effective vaccine, and there are currently more than 100 projects around the world to develop the vaccine, but it needs to undergo several clinical tests to know its side effects and how effective and safe it is on different groups, such as pregnant women and the elderly.
