The Rolling Stones have released this Thursday their first new song since 2012 , and its content could not be closer to the situation of confinement that the planet is going through.
The song is titled Living In a Ghost Town and contains verses like "Life was so beautiful / So we all got locked up / I feel like a ghost / In a ghost town."
Followers of the London group will not be surprised by the style and sound of the song, a dense halftime influenced by the rhythm and blues that sounds typically Rolling Stones , with a riff and classic guitar figures by Keith Richards, the howling and Mick Jagger harmonica and drummer Charlie Parker's dry, swinging punch .
"The Stones were in the studio recording new material before confinement and there was a song that we thought resonated especially in the times we are living in now," Mick Jagger explained in a note. "We have developed it during isolation and here it is, we hope you like it," he concludes.
The song began recording in 2019 in Los Angeles but has now been modified after mobility restrictions were imposed to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"To summarize, we did the song a year ago in Los Angeles for our next album," said Keith Richards , "a project we are still working on, but then shit splashed on all of us and Mick and I decided that the song should get out now. "
