An unclassifiable mouth and a monster talent. The actor Philippe Nahon died this Sunday at the age of 81, learned AFP from his family. He died "of a long illness, aggravated by a Covid-19 infection," his wife told AFP.

60 years of film sets, the hexagonal cinema surveyed in all directions, from Doillon, Féret, Nicloux, @fabriceduwelz to Besson, Gans, Corneau, Perrault, Audiard, Fillières or Kassovitz. A trip to Spielberg, too.

Philippe Nahon made his film debut in the early 1960s in Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Doulos . In the 1970s, he played in committed films such as Les Camisards (1970) by René Allio or Le Pull-over rouge  by Michel Drach (1979). 

In the theater, he plays Brecht, Shakespeare and Duras. After having chained supporting roles in cinema and television, he won thanks to the diptych  Carne and Seul contre tous by Gaspar Noé. He also plays the proletarians in popular films like The Guardian Angels (1995) or The Halls of Time, Visitors 2 (1997).

He became the icon of the generation of filmmakers who emerged in the 1990s: Matthieu Kassovitz ( Hate, Crimson Rivers ), Christophe Gans ( Le Pacte des loup s), Fabrice du Welz ( Calvary ), Alexandre Aja ( Haute Tension ), Jacques Audiard ( A very discreet hero ) or Guillaume Nicloux ( Faut pas rire du bonheur, Le Poulpe, A private affair ). He found Gaspar Noé in the early 2000s with Irréversible

He appears with Luc Besson in Les Aventures extraordinaires by Adèle Blanc-Sec and with Steven Spielberg in Cheval de guerre . He lends his voice to the Tavernier du Poney Fringant in Le Seigneur des Anne aux as well as the voice of Lord Arnold in Dragon Hunters .

Multi-genre actor, on television, he plays as well in  Kaamelott and Mafiosa , as in Joséphine Ange Gardien. It will make its last appearance on the big screen, in Moi, maman, ma mère et moi by Christophe Le Masne, in 2019.
