The Rolling Stones will participate in a star-studded show airing worldwide on Saturday to support the work of healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

The One World Together At Home event , planned by the international organization Global Citizen in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and superstar Lady Gaga , seeks "to achieve a moment of world unity in the fight to end Covid- 19 ", said its CEO, Hugh Evans.

Participants will also include Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish , Celine Dion, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

Other artists performing this Saturday are Chris Martin (Coldplay), The Killers, Christine & The Queens, Pharrell, Jennifer Lopez, Andrea Bocelli, J Balvin, Lizzo, John Legend, Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam ), Alicia Keys or Sam Smith.

A six-hour streamed show will precede the main event, which will be televised, and will include celebrities such as actors Don Cheadle and Samuel L Jackson or footballer Megan Rapinoe.

In addition to celebrating healthcare workers, Global Citizen seeks to make the event a "mobilizing cry" to support the action of local charitable foundations.

It will also call philanthropists and the government to support the WHO in its response against the coronavirus, a purpose for which they claim to have already raised $ 35 million.

Some 107 artists will participate in Saturday's event , but the format and order are not yet reported. According to Evans, many of them - including The Rolling Stones - found out about the initiative and contacted Global Citizen to be present.

In Spain, this macro-concert can be followed live from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday on MTV's Facebook profile. The next day, Sunday, MTV and Comedy Central will broadcast a two-hour special at 10:30 p.m. and 11:40 p.m., respectively.

The concert in support of the WHO can be very symbolic especially after US President Donald Trump announced that he will stop his contributions to that UN entity after accusing him of mishandling the Covid-19 crisis, which has left more of 140,000 dead in the world.

" Multilateralism is the only way to fight a pandemic," said Evans. "You cannot face a global pandemic country by country."
