A fire broke out during a mutiny in the detention center of Ecouves (Meurthe-et-Moselle), this late Friday afternoon. It was triggered by inmates who blocked a floor before setting their mattress on fire, 20 minutes learned   from a police source.

"The incident, which started at around 6.30 p.m. at the Ecouves detention center and involving at least 20 detainees, was still ongoing at 7.30 p.m.," said the management of the Prison Administration (DAP), adding that 'there was "no a priori claim". "The firefighters were on site and the fire was extinguished shortly after 19:00," adds the DAP.

Eris intervention

"A mutiny is underway on one floor, colleagues have been called in for reinforcement," Arnaud Gateau, of the UFAP Grand Est union, told AFP. Firefighters and police were joined by Regional Response and Security Teams (Eris), said the prefecture of Meurthe-et-Moselle, according to which the detainees.

"The Eris, with the support of the police, made it possible to control the situation and the detainees returned to their cells," the prefecture said a little later.
