The United States recorded a new dark record on Wednesday with nearly 2,600 additional deaths from the new coronavirus in 24 hours, the heaviest daily toll recorded by a country, according to the count of Johns Hopkins University.

The United States deplored 2,569 deaths between Tuesday and Wednesday, according to university figures continuously updated. This brings the American death toll to 28,326 dead in total. The previous record for the number of deaths over a day (2,228) was recorded the day before.
