If there are some who tramp in this period of confinement, it is the gardeners, amateurs or professionals. Spring has begun, and with it the season of certain harvests and certain sowing. Many readers ask us if they have the right to take a leap in the garden or vegetable patch not attached to their home, which they own or simply rent. Especially since, last week, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, announced before the Senate that "the sale of vegetable plants [was] considered as a purchase first need ".

🌱 In response to the question from Senator @EmmanuelCapus, I announced that in the context of the arbitrations that we have just rendered, the sale of seeds and vegetable plants is considered a purchase of basic necessity. https://t.co/wPYtf9CyAz

"Can you go to your garden 100 m from your home?" »Roncoroni

Here are the answers we found:

It all depends on what you plan to do there and what type of garden it is. On the website of the Ministry of the Interior, in the section devoted to the most frequent questions and answers on the Covid-19, we learn that "in the event that your garden is not attached to your home, and that you must go out into the public space to get there, you must bring your derogatory travel certificate. You can check the box "trips to make purchases of basic necessities", if you harvest fruits and vegetables in your garden. You can check the “short trips” box, if it is to go to a pleasure garden. "

Thus, people with a garden or a vegetable patch can go there, whether the place is located less or more than a kilometer around the main home, from the moment they plan to harvest food (tomatoes, strawberries , radishes, salads…). The latter are therefore considered essential foodstuffs (@ Barray, @ Claire). "The exit corresponds to a return trip to the supermarket," confirms an adviser on the 0800 130 000 toll-free number, reached by telephone by 20 Minutes .

With the agreement of @ Prefet95 I decided to partially reopen the allotment gardens until further notice, while respecting strict sanitary rules.

For tenants of allotment gardens, or workers' gardens (@Beylot), measures have been relaxed in certain departments, after agreement by the prefectures. In Sarthe, Seine-Maritime or even in Yvelines (access reserved for subscribers), for example, it is now possible to go to these sites, one hour a day, alone, and while respecting the barrier gestures. In all cases, before putting hoes and rakes in the trunk or on the shoulder, contact your town hall to find out if exceptions have been made and what the conditions are.

People who intend, to ventilate themselves, to go to their garden, located less than a kilometer from their home (@Roncoroni), can do so, but within the limit of one hour per day, and always respecting health regulations. But, if this garden is located beyond the radius of one authorized kilometer, they are normally not allowed to go there.

Finally (@ Bernard, @ Thierry), the Ministry of Agriculture and Food reminds on its site that, "if the challenge of this trip is animal protection, especially in case of lack of food, it may be organized with the regulatory documents ”, in this case those proving that you are the owner of the animal and the derogatory certificate of movement. But you must always be alone to perform this task.
