It is reported that the main building of the base covers an area of 2264.52 square meters, with a construction area of 498 square meters. The base has a VR experience area and an earthquake science exhibition area, which can provide visitors with rich science knowledge books and science works for free.
Yang Liming, director of the Qinghai Seismological Bureau, said that the base will provide primary and secondary school students, farmers, herdsmen, and government officials in Yushu Prefecture with a place and platform to learn about earthquake prevention and disaster mitigation, and also serve as a window for earthquake prevention and mitigation to serve the society. "This is of great significance for scientific understanding of the disaster-causing laws, enhancing the comprehensive prevention and control capabilities of earthquake disasters, and effectively reducing the risk of earthquake disasters."
