Twelve years ago, the global financial system collapsed in the United States of America, and it had repercussions for many countries in the world. From the end of 2008 to the beginning of 2010, the world spoke about the economic crisis that was followed by social and political earthquakes. If we go back in time to that time, we find that all the newspapers were not devoid of news about the crisis on all its pages, exactly as it is happening today.

Politically, one of the consequences of that crisis was that populists marched to power in Europe and overthrew governments that Democrats, workers, and socialists have come to since the end of World War II. These populists changed their ship route away from Washington and toward China. As is well known, the scene in Washington itself soon changed, and the populist Donald Trump came to power, overcoming the most famous political dynasties in that country.

Many ordinary people see that the crisis of “The New Corona / Covid-19” is different from what preceded it, since it is unprecedented new, and many of them do not remember anything from the period of the global economic crisis except that the 2010 World Cup came in the middle of it! In fact, if we look at the movement of history as a whole, everything looks very natural and on track.

Political crises and revolutions have ravaged the world since before BC, financial crises have hit economies every 10 years or more since the Great Depression, and social crises cross borders to keep pace with political and economic earthquakes. Health crises are no different and cross borders because they are linked to the movement of people.

What the people did not understand is the speed of "Covid-19's" cross-border movement within two months, and this happened because of globalization, which lives in its most prosperous times today compared to past times. Boundaries are an electoral card for populists in Europe and America.

In Italy, Matteo Salvini, leader of the League and former deputy prime minister, took advantage of the "Covid-19" crisis and linked it to migrants who crossed the border from the sea south, but there is no evidence for this, especially since the crisis is of a biological nature, meaning invisible to the naked eye.

As for the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, he raised his electoral balance by strict closings unprecedented in the history of Italy, and scored 71% in the polls. Trump, on the West Bank of the Atlantic, tweeted at the beginning of the crisis that this “Coffed-19” caused the need to close the borders, and this is his electoral card from a security perspective.

But the virus has spread to America, despite the prevention of flights coming from China, due to the Americans coming from China, and Trump called the "Covid-19" the Chinese virus (he promised to stop naming on March 24), an indirect reference to the issue of borders. But according to Trump's vision, the economy should not be closed entirely, and this is his other electoral paper.

In Arabic: It is too early to say that the crisis of “Covid-19” will bring down anti-globalist populists from power. At the same time, the virus has forced the government of China, which prefers its own version of globalization (the New Silk Road), to stop it by closing the country and disrupting supply chains to cross the crisis. Fighting the virus will not restore the confidence prevailing in the past period, but it will establish a new culture of the idea of geographical borders, whose features will become more clear after the end of the current circumstances.
