  • Almost a third of the HCL staff who received a screening test was positive for coronavirus, according to the management of the CHU de Lyon. But no deaths are to be deplored among these professionals.
  • In Lyon, the epidemic seems to evolve more slowly, with a stabilization of hospitalizations and admissions in intensive care, according to the point made by the HCL Thursday evening.

Exposed to the coronavirus since its appearance in France and in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, hospital staff are not spared from the disease. Quite the contrary. During a video update on the evolution of the epidemic in the hospitals of Rhône and Nord Isère, the Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL) said Thursday evening that 1,578 staff had benefited in recent weeks from screening at Covid -19.

Of these people tested, "486 professionals were affected by the coronavirus," said the deputy director general of HCL, Guillaume du Chaffaut. "None of the HCL professionals have died and none today is in intensive care," he added, ensuring that the CHU "protects and accompanies" its staff in the face of this situation.

Complaint for endangering the lives of others

A partial response to the concern of many of them who consider themselves insufficiently protected since the beginning of the health crisis, in the face of the virus, with in particular insufficient protective equipment. Faced with this shortage of masks, gowns or protective aprons, the CGT of the HCL announced this week at 20 Minutes that it would file a criminal complaint for "endangering the life of others" against several heads of civilian hospices.

Legal proceedings launched by the union after an internal broadcast to staff by the management of HCL, asking them to "recover, wash and reuse" protective equipment for single use (overcoats, aprons).

Our file on the coronavirus

Among the other points raised Thursday evening by the HCL about the pandemic, the management also detailed the evolution of the situation in hospitals. “Since the beginning of the week, there has been a general trend towards a plateau in the number of people hospitalized. A trend that remains very high, with a strong mobilization of our resuscitation services, even if it evolves more slowly, "said Guillaume du Chaffaut.

A downward trend in shea

This April 9, 1,265 patients were hospitalized in the Rhône, in the public or the private sector, including 279 patients admitted to intensive care. At the HCL, 674 people were hospitalized, including 160 in the hospital. "We remain on our guard, with a very significant mobilization, in particular on the capacity of our critical care, to hold over time, because we do not know how long this plateau will last," added the deputy director general.

Data that seem to confirm the stabilization of the progression of the epidemic, observed by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) since the beginning of the week in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes. "The number of new hospitalizations has been stable since April 4, but the downward trend in new admissions to intensive care / intensive care is confirmed," said ARS Thursday evening in its daily report on the coronavirus.
