They were volunteers, in the midst of a coronavirus epidemic, to participate in the national effort in favor of hospitals. For the past few days, employees of Renault Trucks, a truck manufacturer based in Vénissieux, near Lyon, and certain subcontractors, have taken the initiative to produce, with the support of their management, equipment intended for the hospital environment. .

Brackets for protective visors

“Daily production of several hundred supports for protective visors has been launched on Renault Trucks 3D printers (including the largest printer in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region). A second solidarity initiative concerns the production of tips to make Decathlon diving masks compatible with medical respirators, ”said the Renault Trucks FO union on Thursday.

The 3D printers as well as the raw materials necessary for the confection of these devices are made available by the management of the establishment of Lyon, where part of the workforce is partially unemployed during this period of confinement.

Equipment for HCL

The equipment will be partially allocated to the Hospices Civils de Lyon, free of charge, as part of a partnership, underlines the union, anxious to highlight the commitment of the company's volunteers during this health crisis. “It seemed unthinkable to the employees, whose company benefits from the help of the community in these times of partial unemployment, not to also render service to the community. General interest takes precedence, and Renault Trucks employees are proudly present, ”adds FO.

Since the start of containment, Renault Trucks has closed its production plants. However, the spare parts sector remains open in Vénissieux to ensure, in particular, the maintenance of the trucks, many of which circulate to ensure the delivery of food products or medicines.
