"Since the start of confinement, we have seen a sharp increase in domestic violence, with an increase in the number of complaints and the number of hospital care, says Alicia Colusso, director of the Information Center on Women's Rights and families (CDIFF) from Longwy. The situation exacerbates often preexisting violence. This is not unique to Meurthe-et-Moselle.

In the department, the CDIFFs of Longwy, Lunéville and Nancy, with the association Arelia, in Toul, have teamed up to constitute a platform against the isolation which threatens the victims of this marital violence or against children. "We offer a space for listening and support upstream, to prevent people from cracking, and to ease tensions," describes Alicia Colusso.

Mobilized psychologists

According to the departmental delegate for women's rights and equality, Yvette Gaertner, "the number of reports of violence has decreased, because people are confined, which explains the need to work differently". On its territory, each association can answer calls but also get in touch with families "identified" by other public or private actors.

The CAF, the prefecture of Meurthe-et-Moselle and the ARS are partners in the project, like the departmental council which mobilizes psychologists of maternal and child protection alongside associations. Accompanied people can also be put in contact with family mediators, marriage counselors, specialized educators, or other social monitoring services who usually work with associations.

Operational as of this Wednesday, the "Mooring" device must last the time of confinement. Its cost is estimated at 25,000 €.
