The light in the middle of a shipwreck. At the next school year in September, the primary school will be able to count on the creation of 1,248 more posts. A direct response to the very likely negative impact of school closings on many students.

Initially, 440 jobs were to be created in the first degree for the next school year. "We are creating 1,248 more jobs, without cutting elsewhere," said the entourage of the Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer. These creations are “clearly linked to the context of the coronavirus,” we say. "The students will in fact have undergone several weeks or months of confinement and we cannot yet measure the impact," said one. The Minister has already clearly underlined the risk that the current situation of school closings "widens the inequalities".

Priority in primary school

By creating these positions, the ministry wants to improve the rate of supervision per student and create "consensus with the municipalities". Tuesday, M.Blanquer reminded the National Assembly of the commitment not to close class in rural areas without the agreement of the mayors. And in urban areas, the balance between opening and closing will necessarily translate into "an improvement in the staffing rate," he said.

With these job creations, "we confirm the priority given to primary school and to the fight against inequalities", underlines his entourage. "It is a considerable effort of the Nation".

440 jobs cut at the start of the second degree

In detail, the Amiens academy, which was to lose 40 positions, regains for example 64 (and therefore gains 20 positions in total). That of Rennes, which lost 41, will gain 30. The Créteil academy, which has a very high proportion of disadvantaged schools, wins “only” 24 positions for a total of 225 positions, because it was already “ well endowed, ”according to the ministry.

The unions welcome a "readjustment that will do good to schools", like Snuipp-FSU, the first primary union. In a press release, an intersyndicale (FSU, FNEC FP-FO, CGT Educ'action, SNALC, Sud Education and FAEN) however judges the allocation "insufficient to cover all needs", and regrets that it is limited to the first degree. In the second stage, 440 jobs were to be cut at the start of the school year, which remains unchanged.
