Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle - Avalon / Starface

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced in a press release the name of their new business. Archewell is a non-profit charitable foundation which replaces Sussex Royal.

The couple has not been a senior member of the British royal family since March 31 and had to abandon the term "royal" from all their initiatives. In early April, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had said goodbye to their platforms promising to continue their actions in a new form. They did not delay, even if the announcement was a little rushed by a leak in the media.

In tribute to their son

On Tuesday, the British daily Telegraph revealed that the term "Archewell" had been filed in the United States the previous month. In their press release relayed by Deadline, Meghan and Harry explained the meaning of the name of their foundation: a tribute to their son, Archie, but also to the Greek roots of the grandson of Prince Philip, born in Corfu and former Prince of Greece and from Denmark.

"Like you, our goal is to focus our efforts to end the Covid-19 pandemic, but since this information has been released, we would like to tell you about the birth of it all. Before the idea of SussexRoyal came that of Arche - which in Greek means "source of action". We subscribed to this concept for the charitable foundation that we hoped to build one day, and it became an inspiration for our son's first name. Do something that has an impact, do something that matters. Archewell is the name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources from which each of us must draw inspiration, "said Meghan and Harry.
