Recently, on the bank of Poyang Lake in Jinxian County, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, a drone photographed the family of Oriental White Storks that “settle down” on the high-voltage tower: two adult Oriental White Storks, one male and one female, settled down on the high-voltage tower. And successfully hatched 5 baby birds.

It is understood that the oriental white stork is a large wading bird, a national first-class protected animal. It began to breed in the north and middle of northeast China in March and overwintered in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and south of it. There are less than 3,000 oriental white storks in the world, known as "the giant panda in the bird world". The Oriental White Stork was originally a migratory bird that overwintered in the south and bred in the north. It has now passed the migratory season of migratory birds, and it is found that the young birds breeding in the local are very rare.

The reporter understands that the feces of the Oriental White Stork are acidic substances and have a certain conductivity. If they are accumulated on the insulator string for a long time, it is easy to cause the circuit discharge to trip. In addition, the bird's nest built on the pole tower is easy to be blown down by the wind on the conductor or the dangling insulator, causing short-circuit and ground fault, which seriously threatens the safe and reliable power supply of the line.

The staff of the circuit inspection told reporters that in order to make the "national treasure" coexist with the power grid, they strengthened the use of new technologies such as drones to inspect and monitor the line, and cleaned the contaminated insulators in time. In order to protect the oriental white stork from proliferating without affecting the safety of the line, a corrosion-resistant, easily removable and clean anti-bird droppings cover is added to the insulator below the nest.
