  • The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 continues to increase, as does the number of deaths.
  • The progression of the figures is however less than in the previous weeks, observes the ARS of Pays-de-la-Loire.
  • The volume of new hospitalizations is stabilizing.

Admittedly, the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 continues to increase (from 1412 to 1494 in 24 hours), as well as the number of deaths (from 134 to 144 in 24 hours). But the regional health agency (ARS) of Pays-de-la-Loire announced all the same Tuesday "encouraging signs" regarding the spread of the virus.

"We see the effects of confinement," says Jean-Jacques Coiplet, director of the ARS des Pays-de-la-Loire. When we look at the epidemic curve over time, we see that it is flattened. We are no longer in the progress we had seen at the end of March. But it is too early to reduce efforts. "

If Loire-Atlantique is the most affected department in number of cases, it is in Mayenne (52 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and in Sarthe (70 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) that the impacts are the strongest.

Stability in hospitalizations

"We are still in the growth phase with regard to the number of cases but this growth is in the process of being broken," confirms Dr. Pierre Blaise, director of the regional health project in Pays-de-la-Loire. This means that transmission decreases due to confinement. It is the same thing for hospitalizations in intensive care. At the end of March, we were shooting 20 short stories a day. Here we are more like eight or ten a day and it's fairly stable. The fear of seeing our capacities overwhelmed fades a little more. The number of visits to Emergency or SOS Doctors is also decreasing. "

Would the epidemic wave have passed through Pays-de-la-Loire? “No, replies the ARS. We are probably in the wave and it is flattened. But there is nothing to say that there will be no rebound. Respect for confinement remains essential. "

Overall, 700 people are currently hospitalized in the region due to Covid-19, including 176 in intensive care.

In addition, vigilance remains strong with regard to medico-social establishments, in particular the Ephad. Nearly 300 are affected by at least one case of Covid-19. And at least 38 residents have died.
