Lessons until July 4 for all students. Without deciding on a possible date of recovery and deconfinement, the Minister of Education declared this Monday morning that in case of "return to normal", the schooling of students would continue until the beginning of July . "Since we could all resume a normal life then yes, we could have classes until July 4," he said on the radio RTL radio.

This weekend already, the Minister had anticipated the release of the containment established since March 17 to fight against the epidemic of coronavirus. He stressed on BFMTV that it would take "several days" to organize a gradual return to school, after a complete cleaning of the establishments, and "perhaps not everywhere at the same time".

The May 4 hypothesis

Last Wednesday, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe had declared that the question of re-entry into schools, colleges and high schools was "linked to the general question of deconfinement" and that the date of May 4 advanced by the Ministry of Education does not was just an "assumption".

Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer, however, said on Saturday that it was "impossible" to know when students could return to class because "everything depends on the evolution" of the covid-19 epidemic. The minister, questioned this weekend on BFMTV during an open microphone program, did not directly dismiss the scenario of a return to school on May 4 mentioned by his services, but insisted on the general uncertainty, linked to the epidemic.
