NHK compiled the status of infection by prefecture. Fukui Prefecture, where the number of infected people is rapidly increasing, is the highest in the country with a population of 100,000.

At 2:30 pm on March 6, NHK compiled the total number of new coronavirus infections by prefecture across the country, with 1033 in Tokyo, 408 in Osaka, 265 in Kanagawa, and Fukui. The prefecture is the 12th largest in the country with 59 people.

According to NHK's calculation of the "number of infected people per 100,000 population" based on the latest population data published by each prefecture, Fukui Prefecture has the largest number in Japan, at 7.66. Next to Fukui Prefecture, Tokyo has 7.41, Kyoto has 4.84, and Kochi has 4.78.
