Glittering lights of candles and traditional lamps lit the night sky in India in a nine-minute show symbolizing the battle against the Coronavirus, which shut down this vast country.
Many across major cities and towns in the world's second largest country responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to turn off the lights at 9 pm local time.
The residents chanted "To Live India" and "Go Corona Go", clapped and fired fireworks and crackers in scenes reminiscent of "Diwali", the Hindu lights festival. He shared pictures of himself lighting a lamp of clay called "dia". In a modern twist, some residents turned on the lights from their mobile phones. On Friday, Moody called on Indians to participate in this event "to overcome the total darkness of the crisis, by spreading the glory of light in the four directions."
