Three weeks that France is confined and the young people live it rather badly. Nearly one in two (47% *) believes that their morale has deteriorated over the past week, according to an OpinionWay survey for 20 Minutes #MoiJeune. "We expected a decline, but not of this magnitude, reacts Eléonore Quarré, opinion director at OpinionWay. This can partly be explained by the fact that young people combine the double penalty of low income and small housing. In any case, it is not the Covid-19 that scares them, since on a scale of 1 to 10, the average score of concern for their own health is 3.6, against 6.9 for health of their loved ones.

Is confinement, the health and economic crisis inevitable? No. "Young people see this period as an opportunity for transformation," analyzes Eléonore Quarré. They want to take charge of their lives, to suffer less. 54% of them want to change something in their life after the crisis. And if asked to look at a larger scale, 78% of young people want the world to work differently. Among them 32% of pessimists who think that this will not be the case and 46% of optimists or pragmatists who believe that yes, the world must function differently and that yes, it will indeed be the case. The future will tell us which ones were right.
