Honor Blackman, best known for her role as Pussy Galore in the James Bond movie Goldfinger, passed away at the age of 94. The actress died at home in front of family, The Guardian reports Monday.
Her family said in a statement that Blackman died "peacefully" of natural causes. "She was loved and will be missed by her two children Barnaby and Lottie and her four grandchildren."
Blackman, who made his breakthrough in the Avengers series in the 1960s, is called a "great creative talent". She was a combination of "beauty, intelligence and physical prowess".
"Along with her unique voice and a dedicated work ethic, she achieved unparalleled iconic status in the world of film and entertainment," the statement said. "With absolute dedication to her profession and professionalism, she contributed to great films and theater productions."
In addition to her roles in The Avengers and Goldfinger (1964), Blackman starred in the adventure film Jason and the Argonauts (1963) and in the nineties sitcom The Upper Hand. She has also appeared in major theater productions such as The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady and has recorded several singles and music albums.
Blackman was married twice. She adopted two children with her husband Maurice Kauffman.
