Malotru's fate will not be resolved immediately

Season four of fiction, which recounts the life of French intelligence agents immersed in false identities, had ended in a delicate manner for its hero, Malotru - played by Mathieu Kassovitz, who disappeared in Ukraine. What happens to him? "We don't know, and we won't know until we have seen a few episodes of season five," replied Eric Rochant.

"Malotru is an agent who was immersed in Syria a few years ago, who had to return to France because of the revolution," recalls the creator. "He had just a little bit of trouble abandoning his legend, because under legend he had a love affair with a woman in Syria. (...) He should have broken ties, he did not succeed and this small error led to a headlong rush that we followed for four seasons. "

Louis Garrel joins the cast

Fans of the series will find their favorite actors (Sara Giraudeau, Mathieu Amalric, Jonathan Zaccaï ...), joined by a newcomer: Louis Garrel, in the role of an Italian cowboy, a bit flamboyant. "He travels the Middle East, pretending to be an advanced computer trafficker," explains Eric Rochant.

"Under this legend, he manages to cross Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia. He interests quite a few groups and in particular the secret services which need this type of untraceable material." Its mission: to approach the Saudi secret services.

Two episodes directed by Jacques Audiard

Ten episodes, therefore, including only eight directed by Eric Rochant. In the third, filmed in Phnom Penh, the creator of the series makes a brief appearance: he rewrote scenes at the last moment, and it was too late to do a casting.

And for the last two, he stepped back: they were written, designed and produced by Jacques Audiard. "I gave her carte blanche to finish this season five," smiles Eric Rochant. "This is the last season that I have been doing as a creator, author, director. And the best way to end in style, was to give it to Jacques Audiard." Fans will soon be able to judge for themselves.
