A German court today, Friday, imprisoned a young man (26 years) for two and a half years, against the backdrop of creating scratches and distorting the paint of more than 400 cars.

The Schweinfurt district court concluded that the suspect caused property damage of approximately 440,000 euros (474,373 dollars) by scratching 406 cars with a sharp object in 2018, a court spokesman said.

The trial lasted for 24 days in the southern German state of Bavaria. The motive of the man was not clear, as he refused to testify. A psychiatrist found no evidence of suffering from a mental illness.

The prosecution requested that he be sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
