According to the official WeChat message from the Beijing Court Network, on the morning of April 3, 2020, in accordance with the death penalty order issued by the Supreme People's Court, Beijing's Third Intermediate People's Court executed the death penalty for the intentional murderer Sun Wenbin.
The Beijing Municipal Third Intermediate People's Court found through trial that on December 4, 2019, the defendant Sun Wenbin and his relatives sent his mother and grandson Wei to the Civil Aviation General Hospital for treatment. Sun Wenbin was resentful of Dr Yang Wen's treatment of his mother and was revengeful. At about 6 o'clock on December 24, Sun Wenbin was in the emergency room, repeatedly cutting and piercing the doctor Yang Wen's neck with a sharp knife prepared in advance, causing Yang Wen's death. After reporting the crime, Sun Wenbin made a report to the police and was arrested by the public security organs.
On January 16, 2020, the Third Intermediate People's Court of Beijing conducted a public trial of defendant Sun Wenbin's intentional homicide and sentenced him in court. He found Sun Wenbin guilty of intentional homicide, sentenced to death, and deprived him of political rights for life. After the sentence was pronounced, Sun Wenbin appealed. After hearing in accordance with the law, the Beijing Higher People's Court ruled that the appeal was rejected on February 14, 2020, the original sentence was upheld, and Sun Wenbin's death sentence was reported to the Supreme People's Court for approval. After a review according to law, the Supreme People's Court ruled on March 17, 2020 that Sun Wenbin's death sentence was approved.
During the execution of the death penalty, the Third Intermediate People's Court of Beijing fully protected the legal rights of the executed offenders according to law.
