"From the start, the Lebanese government took up the fight against the Covid-19," said the Lebanese ambassador to France, Rami Adwan, interviewed on France 24, praising the professionalism of the medical profession. "All of civil and political society is mobilized," he went on to explain, explaining that "screening, containment and monitoring centers" had been set up, with international aid, to overcome the epidemic.

The country must manage the health crisis while it is going through a deep economic crisis which led it, on March 9, to a situation of default.

To date, 520 coronavirus patients have been officially listed in Lebanon, as well as 17 deaths.

Lebanese authorities have imposed containment measures on the entire population until April 12, but it is still largely possible to move freely.

Rami Adwan, moreover, affirmed that several air bridges would make it possible to repatriate the Lebanese stranded abroad from African, Arab and European cities. The first departures from Nigeria and Ivory Coast are scheduled for April 5.
