The Tunisian Ministry of the Interior has begun operating a robot roaming the streets in an attempt to urge Tunisians to adhere to the public quarantine that the authorities have approved in the country since March 22nd to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Ministry of the Interior published on its official page on Facebook a video showing the B-Gard robot, which is a Tunisian innovation and manufacture approaching a passer-by and saying to him: "What are you doing here?

The robot is in the form of a four-wheeled cart, and it started its experiment a week ago in the main streets of the capital Tunis, and it attracted the attention of Tunisians as they addressed them with a speech, "We must respect the law, abide by quarantine, and do not leave homes in order to avoid the spread of infection and to preserve people's lives."

AFP called the Ministry of the Interior to comment on this new, approved method of raising awareness of the seriousness of the disease, but she did not wish to be identified.

The B-Guard robot is manufactured and sold to companies abroad since 2015 and invented by the student at the Tunisian University, Anis El-Sahbani, who specializes in the manufacture of robots. He established the "Innova Robotics" company in Sousse Governorate, east of the country, and granted a number of robots as a gift to the Tunisian Ministry of Interior.
The ministry has not yet determined how many robots it will adopt in its awareness campaign to prevent the spread of the virus in the country.
