The cultural sector faces major challenges as a result of the corona pandemic. Particularly fragile is the non-profit, local cultural life, according to the organization Ideell Cultural Alliance, which now calls on Sweden's 290 municipalities to support the local culture, this is stated in a press release.

“For the non-profit culture sector, the situation is acute and there are no margins. The risk is that the aid will come when it is already overdue. Businesses may be forced to close down with the result that there is a long-term weakening of local cultural life. ”, Warns Ideell Kulturalliance.

In an open letter to the municipalities, the organization presents a number of proposals for measures, including that the municipalities are facing rent-free months, targeted crisis packages to compensate for lost income and that future grants based on completed activities will be from 2019 instead of 2020.
