The Covid-19 caused the death of seven residents of an Ehpad in Lorient (Morbihan), we learned Tuesday from management. The residence called Edilys which accommodated 90 elderly people was severely affected by the coronavirus epidemic.

According to the general manager of the Argo network, which manages the nursing home, it is an employee who was contaminated at Covid-19 in mid-March. “We had already implemented barrier measures. When we learned of this contamination, we immediately set up strict containment in the rooms, but it was too late, the first death took place on March 16, ”says Pascale Maestracci.

The director also deplores the absence of equipment, including masks, for the staff of the nursing homes. "The staff did everything possible to allow them a peaceful end of life and make themselves as available as possible to keep families informed and maintain the bond with their parent," added the press release.

Since the appearance of the first cases, the situation "has stabilized", specifies the residence. "Since the confinement in the apartments, we have not had any new cases," says the director, refusing to give the number of residents who show symptoms of the disease.
