Nissan Motor has taken measures to suspend production at its factory in Kanda, Fukuoka Prefecture until the night of March 31, when it was confirmed that an employee of the factory was infected with the new coronavirus on the night of March 31.

The new coronavirus was confirmed to be infected by a man in his 20s in Kyoto County, announced by Fukuoka Prefecture on March 31, and is an employee of Nissan Motor Kyushu, a subsidiary of Nissan Motor in Kanda-cho.

According to Nissan Motor, this employee visited a medical institution with a fever of 38 degrees on the 24th of last month, then the fever went down, and he went to work from 25th to 27th to work on the assembly line at the production line.

However, as a result of having been examined due to an abnormal sense of smell, it was confirmed to be positive on the 31st.

In response, Nissan shut down the production line at the factory on the night of the 31st and is now working on disinfection.

The plant is scheduled to stop production until the 3rd, and is taking measures to keep approximately 4,000 people, except some employees, at home.

According to the company, the number of close contacts is currently estimated to be around 10 people working nearby, and we are in a hurry to check the history of employees who have been infected at the factory, etc.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. commented, "We will make every effort to cooperate with related parties and put the safety and health of our employees and their family members first."

Regarding the spread of infection, Toyota Motor Kyushu, located in Miyawaka-shi, Fukuoka Prefecture, has been affected by production of workers due to the infection of employees at its factories.
