According to the China Seismological Network, at 20:23 on April 1, a magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred in Shiqu County (33.04 degrees north latitude, 98.92 degrees east longitude) in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.

It is reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at the junction of Qinghai and Sichuan, about 105 kilometers from Dari County, Qinghai Province, 64 kilometers from Shanghongke Township, Darri County, 69 kilometers from Sangri Ma Township, and about 135 kilometers from Gande County Town, Qinghai Province. It is about 178 kilometers away from Yushu City in Qinghai Province and 469 kilometers away from Xining City.

After a preliminary understanding, some people in Dari County felt it. Most people in the town of Shanghongke Township in Dari County felt it. There was no sense of earthquake in the seat of Sangri Ma Township Government. No reports of casualties and property losses have been received.
