Victims of domestic violence during confinement will now have the opportunity to give the alert via an SMS to 114, announced Christophe Castaner on Tuesday. "We will set up from tomorrow (this Wednesday), the possibility of giving the alert by simple text message so that the internal security forces intervene", declared the Minister of the Interior, during the questions to the government in the National Assembly.

The SMS should be sent to "114". The operators behind this emergency SMS will then notify the police by sending them the victim's contact details. "It is a device that is initially worn by the Grenoble University Hospital, and is dedicated to deaf and hard of hearing people, allowing communication by SMS," explained Christophe Castaner.

Perhaps an extension beyond confinement

“Confinement should not be a breeding ground for domestic violence. We realized that despite all the devices that have been ramped up for a year, there could still be a hole in the racket, "said the Minister. “There are either advice numbers, emergency numbers, or chat, but if I don't have the Internet and I can't get out, what happens? "Asked Christophe Castaner.

“So there was the alert text. It allows to call for help without being heard "by the perpetrators of violence, argued the minister. This emergency SMS will be accessible to victims of domestic violence during the confinement period alone, but Christophe Castaner has already requested the arretonslesviolences.gouv.fr platform so that it can be seized in the future, also by SMS.
